Founder, ZOR ENGINEERS
In 1960 I returned to the land of my birth as a recently-qualified Civil Engineer. My first job was to do the structural design and supervise the building of the United Christian Hospital, Lahore. This experience led to the decision to form my own Company with my best friend, Dennis Norris, as my partner.
We had several clear objectives. A primary one was to create a viable Pakistani construction company, operating to the highest standards of quality and integrity. We hoped that, through it, workers of different religious backgrounds would come together in the workplace, gaining training and experience, thus enabling them to provide for their families and contribute as respected members of their communities and nation.
Although we were glad to help various Christian churches and institutions with their building projects, this was never our exclusive purpose. We also took on larger-scale commercial and social projects.
After some forty satisfying years of business ups and downs, Dennis and I gratefully handed over to the next generation of ZOR leadership. Now, nearly twenty years later, we are happy to know that ZOR Engineers is in good hands and still striving to uphold its proud traditions of quality, integrity and service. I hope that future leaders will be able to develop new fields, keeping the original vision but adapting to the changing needs of Pakistan.
